There have been a few television shows that have made the news or other media with waves recently. One of them is a show named Blackish. Blackish is a show about an African American family and the struggle the father finds with trying to find success for the future - and keep it - while also make sure their own community culture doesn't die along with it due to assimilation in the neighborhood. This can be both described as showing identity along with issues of gentrification.

Apu, from the Simpsons, is allegedly set to leave the show due to a large group being outraged at the stereotype of Indian-Americans being portrayed on television across America. While many want him to leave, as many if nor more want him to stay in, leading to a quite heated and continuous debate about what is good or not.
